Beethoven in the Feminine
Beethoven in the Feminine
Events
The role of women in classical music was diminished for many centuries, but this was not due to a lack of talent or aptitude, but to social, moral and political conditioning. Only in the twentieth century did extraordinary changes happen.
This concert by the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa brings a dialogue with Beethoven's Seventh Symphony, with conductor Teresa Riveiro Böhm, interpreting a recreation of the famous melody of the second movement of that symphony, signed by the Swedish composer Britta Byström. The flutist Janete Santos then joins to play a Concerto that Anne Victorino d'Almeida also composed in the last decade.
