"Taxi" was born in Porto in 1980, in a line-up that included João Grande on vocals, Henrique Oliveira on guitar, Rui Taborda on bass and keyboards and Rodrigo Freitas on drums.

Absorbing the musical influence of Post-Punk, New Wave and Ska, they initially composed and performed original themes sung in English. But this situation changed in 1981, when they were "discovered" by two members of the Polygram label, who invited them to record an album in Portuguese. They released their first album in 1981, a record that would become the first gold record of Portuguese rock. The following year, they released the album "Cairo".

This mythical band has recorded, to date, five albums of originals, with themes such as "Chiclete", "TVWC", "TAXI", "Vida de Cão", "Lei da Selva", "Rosete", "Cairo", "Fio da Navalha" and "Sozinho".
