The Castle of Castro Marim, in the Algarve, hosts the exhibition "Instruments of Torture and Punishment", on display until the end of 2025 and a journey to the distant past, in which conversion to Catholicism was one of the church's greatest undertakings.

Here we can see torture methods used by the Catholic Inquisition and which caused thousands of deaths and barbaric acts against human integrity, to those who did not profess the Catholic faith. Throughout the exhibition, there are several replicas used in the punishment of the condemned and that convey a little of the horrors committed in the dark period of the Inquisition.
