Every year, to celebrate the end of the Christmas season, the Santo Amaro Festivities are held all over the island of Madeira, to celebrate the Saint with greater devotion by the population of Santa Cruz.

In 2025, the festivities start on the 12th and end on the 15th, with the presence of several artists, food and drink stalls and lots of entertainment.

According to tradition, this day closes the Christmas season in Madeira with the "sweeping of the cupboards", carried out by groups who, armed with the traditional heather broom, sang from house to house to receive the delicacies that were left over.
