To celebrate the centenary of Carlos Paredes, Theatro Circo commissioned a special project to pianist and composer Mário Laginha, recognized for his talent in uniting the Portuguese musical tradition with the universal language of jazz.

On stage, he will be accompanied by a quartet of exceptional musicians: Julian Argüelles (saxophone), Romeu Tristão (double bass) and João Pereira (drums). The Portugueseness that Carlos Paredes evoked in his compositions transcends eras. Transporting this heritage to the stage, reinterpreted by Laginha and his quartet, is a feat that requires respect and creativity. With his mastery, Mário Laginha translates the soul of Paredes' repertoire, creating a unique show that pays homage to tradition and celebrates contemporaneity.
