Álvaro Siza: Designing the Everyday
Álvaro Siza: Designing the Everyday
Events
Designed in absolute symbiosis with the architectural space, these pieces represent different moments in time, from the Boa Nova Tea House to the New Wing of the Serralves Foundation, as well as their respective influences, from Shaker chests of drawers to Aalto, Wright or Mackintosh chairs.
Despite working with international brands such as Hermès, Camerich, or Reggiani, Siza continues to produce mostly in Portugal and particularly with the SPSS workshop, having developed a friendly relationship with José Simões, who nurtured the successive reinvention of his carpentry and joinery details. This exhibition is in a way a tribute to this iterative design process that, over decades, has been contextualizing other incursions into sculpture, tapestry or tiles, with Viúva Lamego.
