The program of this concert, conducted by conductor Cláudio Ferreira, covers orchestral moments from famous operas, starting with the overture of Rossini's La Gazza Ladra, which captures suggestive elements of pomp and humor.

The "Dance of the Roosters" is a well-known excerpt from Carl Nielsen's opera Maskarade, whose plot takes place largely at a masquerade ball. The choice of the Roman Carnival overture, a very popular work by Berlioz, as well as the famous Intermezzo from Leoncavallo's opera Pagliacci – which tells the tragic story of an actor who murders his wife and lover on stage, could not be more appropriate. Oriental inspiration marks the incredible orgiastic dance of Samson and Delilah, the dazzling opera by Camille Saint-Saëns. The concert closes with the famous overture to Orpheus in Hell, by Jacques Offenbach, a comic opera that parodies the ancient myth of Orpheus and Eurydice.
