From February 28th to March 4th, the Municipality of Barcelos will once again promote the traditional and lively Popular Carnival of Barcelos, which this year features the musical entertainment of Augusto Canário and the Minhotos Marotos.

The traditional parade has the participation of 35 associations, three dozen floats and thousands of extras dressed to the nines, filling the streets of the city of Barcelos with color, joy and good mood. The program starts on February 28, with the Carnival Parade of Schools and street entertainment. On March 2nd, it is the turn of the Parade of Cabeçudos and Gigantones and the next day the Carnival Mask Contest takes place. After the contest awards ceremony, the great popular dance begins, with the performance of the Minhotos Marotos. The festivities end on Carnival Tuesday, with the great parade of the Popular Carnival through the streets of the city, followed by the musical show by Augusto Canário and Friends.
