Applause – 40 Years Celebrating the Spectacle
Events
The National Museum of Theatre and Dance has the exhibition "Applause – 40 years of Celebrating the Spectacle", a celebration of the four decades of the National Museum of Theatre and Dance.
It honors artists, technicians, spectators, workers, collaborators, partners and friends who have always contributed to the dissemination of this common heritage. Curated by Nuno Costa Moura, the history of this Museum will be revisited, highlighting its unique contribution to the preservation of Portugal's cultural memory and remembering great names, remarkable shows and transformations that shaped theater, dance and music, from the end of the nineteenth century until now. With a contemporary approach to the exhibitions that have been on display at the Museum over time, and through its collections, it will be remembered names on stages such as Eunice Muñoz, Amália Rodrigues, Mário Viegas; of scenography such as José Manuel Castanheira, António Casimiro, Lucien Donnat, dance figures such as Francis Graça, Margarida de Abreu and Anna Mascolo, and, for the first time at the Museum, the complete collection of costumes made by Paula Rego for the Ballet Gulbenkian will be shown.
