Events
This visual activist and artist from South Africa portrays in her works the lives and experiences of black LGBTQIA+ people, both in her country and in several parts of the world. She is one of the most admired figures of our time, having participated in numerous exhibitions, including prestigious biennials such as those in Venice and Sydney.
The exhibition is the largest retrospective of her career and the first major presentation of her work in Portugal and invites reflection on discrimination, identity, memory and social justice, in a context where the colonial legacy still persists. For this occasion, new photographs were printed, and the chronology was expanded with documents that link the Portuguese colonial past, the history of South Africa and LGBTQIA+ struggles.
