"This is a shot" presents a set of works from the Serralves Collection, bringing together recent acquisitions and works never before exhibited at the Museum. Taking Hito Steyerl's Abstract installation as its starting point, the exhibition summons up multiple meanings of the word "shot", as ways of looking at a changing world.

The exhibition includes works from different periods, geographies and means of expression that confront the volatility of today's world, relating pressing themes of our time: the fragility of territory and the notion of belonging, the violence of war and social discrimination, the urgency of the climate crisis and the democratic struggle, the saturation of the virtual world and the dissolution of collective memory.
