Dorothée Munyaneza – Umuko
Dorothée Munyaneza – Umuko
Events
The new piece by Rwandan choreographer Dorothée Munyaneza focuses on "umuko", an ancient tree with bright red flowers, a symbol of healing and the guardian of stories that span generations. "Umuko" is a work of joy, love and solidarity.
Dorothée Munyaneza celebrates the creativity, audacity and freedom of a new generation, together with five young Rwandan artists: dancers, musicians and poets. This generation, born after the genocide against the Tutsi population in Rwanda, which tore the country apart in 1994, still carries the memory of a common heritage, while dreaming of the future and resisting the precariousness of everyday life.
