Tinariwen are back in Portugal to present their new album, "The Hoggar". This emblematic Malian collective, known for their long desert robes and turbans, are the creators of what has become known as "desert blues", a style of music they call "assuf", which also means "longing" or "homesickness" in the Tamasheq language.
After taking part in the 1990 Tuareg rebellion, Tinariwian swapped their Kalashnikovs for guitars and have been regular guests at festivals around the world for the last two decades. They have been nominated three times for Grammy Awards, winning Best World Music Album in 2012 for their album "Tassili".
