Events

The parish of São Bartolomeu do Mar, in the municipality of Esposende, promotes the São Bartolomeu do Mar Festivities, with the Holy Bath and the other festivities between the 15th and 24th of August.

This traditional pilgrimage begins with the preparatory novenas, with the main days between August 22nd and 24th. It is on the 24th, Saint Bartholomew's Patron Saint, that a large number of devotees flock to the parish to fulfill the tradition of the Holy Bath, a unique ritual in the country and in the world. In addition to the religious ceremonies, several artists and musical bands will perform, with emphasis on Augusto Canário e Amigos and David Carreira.
