Coppélia or The Girl with Enamel Eyes
Events
Fifteen years after its last performance, "Coppélia", a classic by John Auld according to Arthur Saint Léon, Marius Petipa and Enrico Cecchetti, with music by Léo Delibes, takes the stage again.
This ballet, where illusion and fantasy mix with humor, explores the border between the real and the illusory, as well as the human fascination with automaton puppets, closely linked to the interest in technological and scientific advancement in the nineteenth century. It is inspired by E.T.A. Hoffmann's work Der Sandmann, whose story focuses on the young Swanilda and her fiancé Franz.
