Aveiro City Council is promoting the Happy Holidays in Aveiro initiative, an event that marks Christmas, New Year's Eve and the São Gonçalinho festivities, taking place between December 1 and January 12.

On the 1st, the festivities begin at 5.30pm, with a parade of Santa Clauses in Moliceiro boats, the switching on of the Christmas lights, as well as the inauguration of the Great Christmas Tree, ending with a magnificent multimedia and pyrotechnic show, taking place between the Capitania and the Cais da Fonte Nova. One of the novelties of this edition is the Ice Rink and the Electric Train, installed in Rossio from December 2 to 23.
